Building on the progress made on the 2017-2021 SAA, the 2022-2026 iteration is built upon a vision of integration—recognizing that addressing complex management needs in the Delta requires integration across social and biophysical disciplines, geographic boundaries, and topics.
The 2022-2026 SAA presents 25 priority Science Actions that fill critical knowledge gaps in the Delta and fulfills objectives of the Delta Science Plan. The document organizes these Science Actions under six broad Management Needs. It describes each Management Need and associated Science Actions and discusses how the SAA can be used to promote collaborative science, improve efficiencies in science planning, and coordinate investments in critical science investigations and infrastructure.
Generation of the 2022-2026 SAA stemmed from a broad list of collaboratively developed Management Questions to ensure that Science Actions inform policy and management. Multiple public workshops and online surveys were used to inform the development of the 2022-2026 SAA, which was published in April 2022.
